Hi! I'm Kimberley of Polly's Farm, often called “Polly, "P" or "KK". Based on a childhood nickname due to my relentless belief in silver linings and hailing from the movie classic Pollyanna, Polly's Farm is a dream come to fruition. From my tiny plot of land in Shoreham, I handcraft premium natural botanical skincare products that provide nourishment for our bodies whilst protecting the land on which they're made, all firmly rooted in and reflective of the Mornington Peninsula. The Polly's Farm range includes Olive Oil Bar and Ball Soaps and Hand & Body Scrubs made with locally grown and produced Extra Virgin Olive Oil (the same premium oil I use on my salads!), Botanical Bath Soaks, Organic Hand & Body Wash, Organic Skin Salves and Botanical Candles.
When did you first know you wanted to be creative?
I've always been a maker of some description. As a little human, I would help mum on her stall of crochet jumpers at Red Hill Market where I also sold my handmade wares - jars of "pickled people" and dried flower bookmarks that no doubt fell apart within the first 12 hours of use! As a young adult and beyond, my passion has been herbal medicine and the healing power of plants. It led me to study nursing with a view to then moving into naturopathy to achieve a holistic balance of healing modalities. Producing these botanical skincare products is the result of this life-long passion, to nourish our skin and in turn ourselves, naturally and sustainably.
Describe your perfect day...
Summer... solo sunrise swims at Merricks beach, playing in the veggie patch (with Reg dog supervising of course), and a sunset barbecue. It's all about simple things for me.
What is your best ever creative moment?
The day I realised I could...
Describe a lesson you learnt from a creative failure...
Which one to choose?! That it's not wrong, it's just better suited to something else.
What's the scariest movie you have ever seen?
Jaws. I didn't swim at the beach for an entire summer after watching that one.
What’s the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Keep breathing.
What's your favourite tunes to get you in the creative mood?
My Polly's Farm Spotify playlists are pretty heavy on the folk and pop country and they're on constant rotation.
What do you love most about the EPM?
Oh let me count the ways... I have never experienced a market like EPM, which I truly believe is a testament to Ness and Joel. The location... there's bush spirit there for sure; the stallholders... the loveliest bunch of people I've ever met; the culture... inclusive, welcoming and so open-hearted; the market goers... a complete extension of the EPM culture, so lovely, friendly and supportive and an all-round great bunch of humans.
Where do you see your business in the next 5 years?
Nourishing more bodies, one bar and jar at a time.
You can catch Kimberley at every EPM this season and also at Albert & Daphne in Mornington.
